May 24th Race Meet

New Temporary Track Layout

With the new temporary track coming into play members arrived with some anticipation that they would see out the whole day and breakages would be kept to a minimum. In the Super Mod class, Shiralee McCaul was back and running as cool as ever without missing a beat and her consistency was again showing through. Dave in his temperamental Odessey was again having some trouble getting it started, but when he did it was looking the goods. Anthony also collecting solid points in his Pilot import which was performing well. Both Don and Todd also held up for most of the day in their GSXR 400 until a broken steering arm put paid to their chances of a heat win.

In the Open Class, Craig Todd again took the lead in the early races, but after lunch he was headed off by Dave Davis’s machine until a flat tyre bought his race to a conclusion. Steve Beninati was also running well, and he took the honours in the closing stages.

In the end Shiralee McCaul took out the Overall win grabbing her first Gold Cup.

The day was also attended by Senior Constable Naomi Breadon who was looking at how the club might provide an outlet for some of the youth in the area and how opportunities could help the club build new members from the locals as either race teams, pit crew, marshalls and spectators.

The day was judged a great success and all teams were able to drive their machines onto their trailers rather than winching them up due to breakages. Thanks to Sally for all the office work, Dot for the excellent lunch, DT for his organising in the pits and our marshalls, Terry, Kane, Chris, and Leif as the official starter. Also must not forget the clubs honorary lap scorer young Adam Todd.

Once we have a date set for a Working Bee we will look to extend the track into it’s final flat track layout.

Next meet in June is at Avalon. Check our web site calendar for details.

Look forward to seeing a huge roll up for this super long and fast track.
