Round 2 Racing Update

Given the weather forecast conditions for the second round of the VORBC 2010 season looked like it would be a battle against the elements rather than other competitors and from an initial field of 14 starters 10 entries turned up for the day, with two in the Intermediate Class and eight competing for the honours in the Open Class.
And right from the start Josh Pedersen struck more bad luck when he threw a chain which bent his rear sprocket to again stop him in his tracks for the day.
But Craig Todd, our visitor from Mt. Gambier again showed that his new buggy was equal to the task and took out the first race comfortably.
In the Intermediate Class it would be one on one match racing all day with close tussles in every rave between the very quick GSXR 400 belonging to Peter Mac and the newly imported Honda Pilot driven by Anthony Newbound.
Every race was neck and neck and the lead swapped on a number of occasions with Anthony eventually taking out the win at the end of the day.
All the spectators on the hill agreed that this was great racing and they enjoyed it immensely. The Open Class then started to get interesting when Peter Schultz started to apply the pressure in his CBR 1000 and until an oil line let go it looked like he would take out his first win.
After lunch and with a new grid, Dave Davis then led the field away with Craig Todd in hot pursuit. And he almost caught him on a number of corners but Dave made sure that his line was covered and took out the win closely followed by Toddy, Steve Beninati and Matt Hocking. This race also saw the Prime teams machine break another front strut and eventually have to retire with some internal engine trouble. The last race was a clash between Craig Todd and Steve Beninati and it was all or nothing with the lead swapping on a number of occasions only to have Craigs Blackbird 1100 finally retired with a broken axle.
The day was judged a fantastic success and the wind and expected rain didn’t eventuate as first predicted.
Final winner for the day in each class was Craig Todd in the Open Class by a small margin and Anthony Newbound in his new Pilot, again, just by a small margin.
